Our Story



Founded in 2010 by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and mother of a child with autism, Marcela Nunez, Innovative Autism Services is one of the foremost autism service providers. Marcela’s career working with children on the spectrum began long before her son Ian’s diagnosis. Marcela is also a certified Special Education teacher and holds a Master’s Degree in Behavioral Disorders from Columbia University’s Teacher’s College.

For nearly two decades she has been providing services for children with autism in a variety of settings, including public school districts, agencies and within private families. After her son’s diagnosis, she and her husband, Nathan, decided to open their own practice to address Ian’s unique need. As Ian grew, so did IAS’ services and core mission.

Her experience, both as a clinician and mother, is what makes the culture and methodologies at IAS so unique. Marcela understands first hand what parents and their families are going through, and she extends this knowledge to the IAS staff. This ensures that together, as a unified team of parents, families and clinicians, we can help your child have better days and be his or her best self.
